2008 AYSO Region 55 SPRING SOCCER

Please read the following information carefully. This briefly outlines available AYSO Region 55 Spring Soccer Programs.

PROGRAM OUTLINE: Region 55 has three Spring programs, all of which are dedicated to having fun, building fundamental soccer skills, and to keep playing soccer in the off season.

Spring Intramural Program

The Spring Intramural program is a great way to introduce new players as well as continuing player’s new skills and lots of touches on the ball. Parents who are new to soccer or have been watching from the sidelines and want to be involved will have an opportunity during this program. U.K. International Soccer coaches will not only be training the kids but will also work with parents teaching basic coaching skills. Parents will learn how to conduct a practice, game management and how to have fun with the kids. This is a low pressure way to be involved with your soccer experience, so come on out and be a part of AYSO! A player is eligible if born on or before July 31, 2003.

Season is from March 8to May 10, 2008

(No games the weekends of March 22-March 29)

Intramurals will be played at OVSD Administration Offices (Old Lark View). Times will be as follows:

U6 Division 9:00 to 10:00 am

U8 Division 10:00 to 11:30 am

U10 & UP Divisions 11:30 am to 1:00 pm

Spring Recreation and Select

Spring Recreation and Select programs are Mid March thru early May. These U10 thru U19 programs are coach driven, meaning Coaches must notify the region of their intent to coach spring and be approved. Then they may choose players to complete their roster. Should any opening remain on teams, players will be added from our interest list. Teams play within Area K which consists of Huntington Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Long Beach, Santa Ana and Orange. There will be home and away games. Cost is $65 per player which includes a uniform. Guest players must pay $80 to cover player fees and insurance.

Recreation teams must consist of players who played in fall 2007 within our region. No All-Stars or guest players are allowed. Divisions that play in Rec are U10, U12 and U14. Competitive play is de-emphasized.

Select teams are more competitive nature, usually consisting of All-star and/or Plus caliber players. No more than three guest players (non-region 55 fall season) are allowed, no exceptions.

ALL Spring Recreation and Select teams MUST have three referees listed and prepared to referee games for other region 55 teams at home. No team will be considered or accepted without referees to support our program. Any team not supporting our program with referees during the season will be removed from the schedule.

Registration and fees are processed through each coach. Print and sign two copies of your players registration form from http://www.eayso.org , make checks payable to AYSO region 55 in the amount of $65. Deliver to your respective coach who will turn in his or her teams complete paperwork.

Players interested in playing on a Spring Recreation team or Spring Select team or general questions please email springplayer@ayso55.org. Be sure to include your child's name, division played in fall 2007, and telephone number. Also include either “rec” or “select” in the subject line. They will be placed when/if openings are available.
