PROGRAM INTENT
The intent of the College
Athlete Program (CAP) is to provide a valuable service to players who want
to:
- attend college
- play soccer while in college
- be prepared to do both
It is designed to help aspiring student-athletes meet their college goals. Participation is open to any age-eligible player who meets the following:
- minimum 13 years of age, finishing 8th grade by the next CAP Center and
- maximum 18 years of age on July 31st prior to the next CAP Center
PROGRAM BENEFITS
CAP offers ten enhancements to high school aged players without removing them from their regular leagues and playing seasons. In addition, CAP offers:
- Open auditions to all interested, age appropriate players
- Recognizes and promotes player's academic performance
- Promotes responsible citizenship
- Builds character
- Enhances player's concepts of sport and sporting behavior
- Provides training from top level soccer experts
- Offers workshops on college entrance requirements and procedures
- Provides exposure to college coaches
- Assists in the creation of student-athlete portfolios
- Offers the chance for national level competition
CAP serves players skilled in five important areas:
- Soccer skills
- Sporting behavior
- Academic performance
- Citizenship within the community
- Service to others
